Special Olympics East Region - Volunteers Needed

We need a host of volunteers to assist in a variety of roles, to help 1,100 athletes shine in a smoothly run competition designed to help them be their best. We need your help to do this! Approximately 100-150 volunteers are needed for this event.

Not familiar with how the competition works? That’s OK!  Demonstrations and training will be provided day-of-event, at the start of your shift to ensure a positive volunteer experience for you!  Please arrive 15 minutes early for instructions.

 

We are looking for volunteers to fill shifts starting at 6:30 am and throughout the entire day!

Please choose a shift that you would like to assist with. Shifts are subject to change based on the needs in other areas. Positions and their responsibilities are outlined on the volunteer sign up link below. Friends and family are welcome to participate.

Age Eligibility

  • 15 years and older may volunteer on their own
  • 8 to 14 years must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone.
  • 7 years & younger are not given volunteer assignments but are welcome and encouraged to cheer athletes as long as accompanied by a parent/guardian/chaperone at all times.

Wear weather-appropriate athletic clothing and comfortable closed toe shoes. Please be sure to wear your Space Center Volunteers t-shirt.

Please bring water to stay hydrated and pack lightly, there is no storage for any personal belongings.

SOTX will send you a text, if there is a change in schedule or location, due to the weather.

NO ANIMALS allowed unless they are service pets.

Make sure you register as a Group - “Space Center Volunteers”

Once you register, you will be sent a confirmation email immediately, SOTX will send another email the day prior to the event as a reminder that you signed up to volunteer.

All volunteers must present a valid ID.

Shirts will only be provided to those who have not received one for a previous event AND SUBMIT the needed information before April 15, 2024. Shirts will be provided first come, first served, in adult sizes only and may run out.
